The VU University Ambulatory Monitoring System was first developed in the early 1990s to support ambulatory monitoring in naturalistic research settings. Since then, the platform has continuously evolved through scientific collaboration and technical innovation. Today, hundreds of VU-AMS systems are used worldwide by universities and research groups.

The ongoing development of VU-AMS has been supported by researchers, engineers, and software developers working closely together. This interdisciplinary approach has allowed the system to remain at the forefront of physiological monitoring technology for more than three decades.
